Pulmonary embolism (PE)
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a serious medical condition that occurs when a blood clot (or sometimes other substances like fat or air) blocks one or more arteries in the lungs. These clots usually form in the deep veins of the legs, a condition known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and travel to the lungs through the bloodstream.
